A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday for a new movie theater coming to Aransas Pass.

Community and city officials were out to celebrate the beginning of construction of Movies Inc. at 1277 Highway 35.

According to Mark Farnsworth, president of Movies Inc.  the new theater will feature first –run movies, leather stadium seating, as well as state-of-the-art sound and projection systems.

Farnsworth says Movies Inc, which is made up of himself, his wife and their son; choose Aransas Pass for their new location because of its centralized location.

“This location is the center of the wheel,” Farnsworth said. “Rockport, Port Aransas, Portland, Ingleside, Taft, everybody in the community can come here. This location will be able to help everybody.”

Farnsworth says the name Movies Inc. is a tribute to his father, who flew a B-26 nicknamed Wheels Inc. while serving in the military.
