February 14 isn’t just Valentine’s Day, it’s also National Donor Day.
Each year, more than 125,000 people wait for an organ donation and some remain on that list for several years.
Locally, donors are needed and today is a chance for hospitals and others impacted by organ donation to share why it’s so important to donate.
Martha Moseley says she has always been an organ donor but didn’t realize she’d become one shortly after giving birth to her daughter. She says when she found out her father-in-law was in need of a kidney and she was the only match she knew exactly what to do.
Moseley said “It’s an act of love, it’s an act of kindness, it’s about relationships and what you’re willing to do for somebody you love.”
