Every child deserves to be a kid. That is the idea behind Foster Angels of South Texas.
It is a belief driven by the knowledge that foster children must be exposed to positive influences, activities and experiences that help them to flourish and reach their full potential in what can otherwise be difficult circumstances. Foster Angels works to help improve the lives of foster children in South Texas by ensuring that their basic needs are met, while providing life-enriching experiences.
Working closely with case workers from Child Protective Services, Court Appointed Special Advocates and other organiizations who deal directly with children in foster care, Foster Angels takes requests from case workers that often include funds for clothing, education, food, medical needs and events happening in the lives of foster children. Being adequately prepared for these events in a way that allows them to fully participate can build self-esteem and provide a sense of support.
On Thursday, April 18 at 11:30 a.m., Foster Angels will be hosting an informative, inspirational and enjoyable afternoon at the American Bank Center, designed to show anyone who is interested how they can make an impact in the life of a child in foster care.
The Foster Angels Luncheon will honor extraordinary youth in foster care who have demonstrated a commitment to their education and who exhibit high character. There will also be a presentation from award-winning author, educator and entrepreneur Rodney Walker. He will share his story of overcoming academic and social struggles while growing up in foster care.
The cost is $100 per ticket, and table sponsors are available for $1,500. Tickets may be purchased HERE.
