The new Harbor Bridge is good news for most people but it's created a major hassle for one North Beach business. Groomer's Seafood has been on North Beach for the last 6 years but the owner Richard Groomer says he's having to relocate, after receiving a letter from TXDOT claiming his seafood market is right in the path of the new bridge project.

Groomer said "Originally we went and visited TXDOT to see if anything was going to happen, just as a due diligence thing you do when you buy property and we talked to them and spoke to them about it. Nobody told us anything, they said there was no plans whatsoever."

Groomer who owns other property in the North Beach area says he really wanted to stay in the North Beach area but due to technical issues, he wasn't able to build on the land he owns and had to find elsewhere to go.

"Right now we're actually in what they (TXDOT) call the 'relocation phase' where they (TXDOT) actually will help support us and get us put in the other facility with a lot of the property we have here and then once that's done it's pretty much our baby from there." Groomer added.

Their new location will be along SPID near Staples and plan to move in within the next 4-12 months.

As for those of who live in the Portland or North Beach area, Groomer says he's currently working on a delivery service for home deliveries, using their refrigerated vehicles.
