House in Holiday Beach that was possibly hit by a tornado.
HOLIDAY BEACH -
Seven people were rescued early this morning after the second story of a home was destroyed by a possible tornado in Holiday Beach near Rockport in Aransas County.
When our crew arrived on scene, severe damage could be seen along Belaire Drive in Holiday Beach. Seven construction workers were rebuilding the home after it was badly damaged by Hurricane Harvey. The men said most of the home was finished being rebuilt.
Around 1:30 a.m., the workers got an alert on their phones warning of a tornado in the area. The men tell us that within seconds, they heard a loud boom and the doors flew open. That's when the roof blew off the home and landed across the street.
The house that had been rebuilt is once again severely damaged. Power lines are also down in the road with debris scattered around the scene.
A kayak could be seen laying on top of a Jeep with a broken windshield.
An entire wall on the second story of a home was laid over on the railing.
Another preliminary report out of Refugio County says that several roofs were blown off and windows were shattered by another possible tornado in Woodsboro.
The National Weather Service will send out a team to survey the damage later today. They will then determine if this was, in fact, a tornado.
Severe weather moved through the area for much of the night, causing widespread power outages and prompting several tornado warnings. All warnings have since expired.
