Houston 'pistol camp' teaches kids as young as 8 how to shoot
Some parents think a good way to protect their children from being injured by a gun is to make sure they know how to safely use one.
A Houston gun range is offering a pistol camp to make kids less curious about guns and teach them how to shoot the right way.
"Why would you want to keep it a mystery from them? Why would you not want to have that information available to them? Why would you not want to put them in the right setting, where if they're ever exposed to a gun, they know what to do," Matt Fleming, owner of the range, said.
Flemming offers two courses with kids as young as 8 years old. Before the kids are allowed to shoot, Fleming teaches safety. The kids are taught to load the gun and fire at targets.
Fleming plans to offer more courses over the summer.
