Five passengers were killed Sunday in a helicopter crash in New York City - two of which were Texans.
Those victims have been identified as North Texans Brian McDaniel, a 26-year-old Dallas firefighter, and his longtime friend, 26-year-old Trevor Cadigan.
The longtime friends had gone to Bishop Lynch High School together.
The Bishop Lynch community mourns the tragic loss of Trevor Cadigan '10 and Brian McDaniel '10, and prays for the comfort of their families and friends and all who grieve their loss. https://t.co/KbFv39NdhF— Bishop Lynch HS (@BishopLynch) March 12, 2018
Cadigan, a recent Southern Methodist University graduate and son of a Dallas broadcaster, had moved to New York in October of 2017.
McDaniel was visiting Cadigan when they decided to take a sightseeing flight.
In the seconds after liftoff, Cadigan shared a short video on his Instagram page, showing he and McDaniel in the flight's first moments.
The helicopter went plunging into the East River just minutes later.
McDaniel was a firefighter at Station 36 in Dallas, where he was about to celebrate two-years of employment.
