FLORIDA -

Strangers band together to drop the hammer on a hit and run driver in Miami.

The driver of that white van, with what appears to be a sledgehammer, joining the effort, pounding away at the fleeing SUV's windows repeatedly.

Shards of glass littering the street yesterday, people yelling at the SUV driver to stay at the scene until the driver manages to maneuver his way out.

The men were intent on detaining the driver because he is accused of causing this wreck, involving several vehicles.

Miami police officers eventually caught up with the vehicle, arrested the driver who is identified as 25-year-old Maxwell Lagutenko.

Lagutenko appeared in court Monday and faces numerous charges, including reckless driving.

The judge set bail at $5,000.

No one was injured during the multi-vehicle accident the driver is accused of causing.
