CORPUS CHRISTI -

With all the construction going on around town, you may have noticed some suspicious cars with flashing lights.

A KRIS 6 News viewer sent us photos of two of those vehicles spotted along Everhart Road and Corona Drive Friday afternoon. The Toyota even had a sticker that read "POLICE" on its bumper.

Lt. John Hooper with the Corpus Christi Police Department said these cars belong to uniformed police officers who are working off-duty with contractors who are fixing city streets.

The officers have been hired to provide security and help with traffic control in busy streets that are under construction.

Police say if you see one of these vehicles in a construction zone, don't be alarmed.
