According to Sgt. Nathan Brandley with the Department of Public Safety, Carrillo had caused a disturbance at the jail that morning. Brandley said,"When officers in the jail went to try to get him under control a taser was used to deploy and it wasn't long after that that they took him to the hospital immediately and was pronounced dead at the hospital."
The Texas Rangers are investigating Carrillo's death. There's been no ruling on a cause of death.
Carrillo had been at the jail since February for violating his probation on a burglary conviction.
