CORPUS CHRISTI -

The Corpus Christi Police Chief Mike Markel has announced the passing of a veteran Corpus Christi police officer.

In a social media post posted on the Corpus Christi Police Department Facebook page read,"Yesterday the Corpus Christi Police Department lost a true cop's cop when Detective Albert Leal Jr. passed away."

"Police Chief Mike Markle said it best in an email to the department staff, 'Albert Leal was not only a veteran officer but a friend to everyone who knew him. His dominating size and strength were easily overshadowed by his great humility and gentle heart,'" the post continued.

The statement also read,"Albert was a long time and current member of the CCPOA Board of Directors, and always had the best interest of the officers at heart."

"He will be dearly missed by this loving family, the officers and staff at the police department, and the members of the CCPOA," the post concluded.
