CCPD: Car crash causes traffic to be diverted along Ocean Drive

Posted: Updated:

A two-vehicle crash shuts down traffic along Ocean Drive for almost two hours.

The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. Monday night in the 6100 block of Ocean Drive near Poenisch Drive.

The driver of one of the vehicles that were involved in the crash says the driver of a silver car lost control of his car, hopped the curb, hit the telephone pole, struck a palm tree, and then hit his SUV.

If that palm tree and that telephone pole were not there, we wouldn't be having this conversation the man said.

Police officers had to reroute traffic as cleanup crews cleared the amount of debris left on the road and removed the vehicles along Ocean Drive.

Two hours later, police opened up three lanes of travel and closed down one as workers fixed a pole that was knocked down.
