Texas Rangers investigate Nueces County jail death

The family of a Nueces County Jail inmate says he was rushed to a hospital and died.

The inmate is identified as 27-year-old Emilio Carrillo.

Medics with the Corpus Christi Fire Department responded to the jail at 1:49 a.m. Monday morning.

According to CCFD Capt. James Brown, EMS crews were called over to the Nueces County Jail, and when they arrived, they saw an unconscious man and started CPR.

The Nueces County Sheriff's office is referring all questions about the incident to the Texas Rangers.

Carrillo was in jail for violating his probation on a burglary conviction.
