A man has been arrested after he reportedly fired several shots during an argument, then led police on a chase overnight.

Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex on Treyway near Airline and Williams around 1:30 a.m.

Officers say a man and woman got into an argument and at some point the man allegedly fired several shots before leaving the scene. As officers were investigating, they say the man returned to the scene in an SUV. Officers tried to make contact with the man, but say he drove off instead.

Officers chased the man from an apartment complex on Treyway Lane to Carroll Lane, about 4 miles away. The man bailed out on foot when he did stop the SUV.

The man was taken into custody near Crestvilla Drive and Lynncrest Drive. Officers say the man's SUV had major damage and they believe he crashed into something during the pursuit. EMS checked the man out before officers took him to jail.

Officers believe the man tossed a gun at some point during the chase and were searching for that firearm. We are told the man will be charged with evading arrest, assault and discharging a firearm.
