SAN ANTONIO -
A school bus carrying students from Tuloso-Midway was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler on San Antonio's southside.
The incident happened Saturday evening on Loop 410 near Southbound W.W. White Road. There, officials said a Tuloso-Midway Independent School District bus was involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer. KSAT in San Antonio reported that the accident involved at least three other vehicles.
No significant student injuries were reported as a result of the crash, but the driver of the tractor-trailer was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Authorities have not yet released info on what caused the crash, but video from KSAT appeared to show the 18-wheeler ending up riding the guardrail of an overpass before falling off and crashing into the embankment below. Road crews shut down the area while HAZMAT teams worked to clear spilled fuel and liquids and investigators worked the scene.
School officials with TMISD confirmed the incident, saying that its Spanish Club had been onboard the bus. The students were taken by the city's VIA bus system to a local business parking lot along with school staff to await another bus from TMISD to retrieve them.
