Diocese of Corpus Christi to close Central Catholic Elementary
CORPUS CHRISTI -
The Diocese of Corpus Christi announced yesterday that Central Catholic Elementary will not be opening for the 2018-19 school year.
In a media release sent today, the diocese said that demographic shifts, declining enrollment and financial challenges have contributed to the school’s closure.
The diocese says the Office of Catholic Schools will be working with families to retain the 60 students currently enrolled at the school, and are working to find positions for teachers and staff at other schools in the diocese.
The school had a counselor on campus today for students , faculty and staff who needed help in processing news of the closure.
