Selena Quintanilla fans headed out to select H-E-B's early this morning, to purchase a one-of-a-kind tote. The bag features the Tejano star on the front and back, and the title "Queen of Cumbia" in bold, pink letters.
H-E-B began selling the totes at 9 o'clock this morning, but at least 150 fans of Selena were already in line well before that.
One of those fans include Lisa Lopez, who said she got to H-E-B around 8:20 in the morning.
"Friends started tagging me real quick," Lopez said. "They knew I was going to be in line getting a bag."
The big announcement was made on social media on Wednesday. H-E-B and The Selena Foundation partnered up to sell limited-edition, reusable totes that are 100% recyclable.
Bags were limited to two per customer, but H-E-B workers said within a half hour, over half of the 1,400 total bags were already bought by customers.
Sara Dominguez, another big Selena fan, said she was excited to see that Selena's family is still carrying on her legacy by selling the totes.
"I thought it was a great idea for the family to do this, because Selena has inspired a lot of the fans here and all over the world."
Some are using their new Selena tote for groceries.
"I will use it for food, I will use it for the beach, or any other things that I need it for," Dominguez said.
Others are adding it to their Selena memorabilia collection.
"I might use it for work, but I'm going to save one for sure and keep it in my little Selena collection that I have," Lopez said.
H-E-B donated $25,000 to the Selena Foundation as part of the partnership. The Selena Foundation will use funds from this donation and give it to the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Bend.
Don't worry, if you missed out on buying a bag in store. H-E-B is selling the totes online until supplies run out.
