Corpus Christi police officers say they arrested an armed robbery suspect less than one hour after the crime.

The armed robbery happened at the Subway restaurant located in the 3700 block of Leopard Street near Old Robstown Road around 9:45 pm Tuesday evening.

According to police, a man walked into the restaurant and pulled out a handgun and demanded cash from the register.

Police say after taking an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled from the scene on foot and ran over to a nearby motel.

After searching video surveillance around the locations, police were able to find the suspect's location.

Lt. Jay Clement, with the Corpus Christi Police Department, says the suspect was taken into custody before 10:30 pm Tuesday night.
