Murder suspect is now behind bars at the Nueces County Jail

A murder suspect, who is accused of causing injuries that lead to the death of a 24-year-old woman, is now behind bars over at the Nueces County Jail.

CCPD Detectives say they were called over to the Spohn South Hospital in reference to a dead 24-year-old female with bruising to her body back on Feb 1, 2018.

Man arrested in connection with the death of a 24-year-old woman

The family members have identified the victim as 24-year-old Leeann Torres. 

Detectives arrived at the hospital and talked to a 26-Steven Urias, who was later interviewed at the CCPD downtown headquarters and was released. 

After the Nueces Medical Examiner's Office released the autopsy to Detectives, a murder warrant was issued for Urias's arrest.

He was arrested three days later in San Patricio County and was transferred to the Nueces County Jail Monday afternoon.

He is charged with murder and his bond is set at one million dollars.

Family members said Leeann Torres left behind two children, a son, and a daughter.
