Can-struction benefits local food bank

Posted: Updated:

A friendly competition to benefit the food bank was held yesterday at La Palmera Mall.

Eight teams from local engineering, architectural and construction firms participated in the H-E-B sponsored event, and had 12 hours to build something out of canned goods.

The theme for the competition was ‘coastal living’ and all of this year’s creations will be on display at the mall through the weekend.

After that, all of the canned goods will be donated to the Coastal Bend Food Bank.

The annual competition, now in its third year, typically collects about 15,000 pounds of food.
