Dachshunds raced for the gold in a contest of their own at Cole Park.
CORPUS CHRISTI -
Short legs or not, a group of local weiner dogs made a mad dash down the tracks at Cole Park for a chance at gold.
It wasn't the Olympics, but for a group of dachshunds, this weekend was the culmination of a year of hard work...at least, for some.
The annual Dachshund Dash saw many four-legged Coastal Bend residents fight tooth and paw to get across the finish line. Some of the contestants made their way down the track quicker than you could blink, with a few others deciding that being carried over the line was a better idea.
A dachshund named Molly won the race this year. Her owners told KRIS 6 News that her workout routine includes plenty of practice runs at home.
