CORPUS CHRISTI -

What started as a late night bar fight, ended with one person in the hospital, and another in jail for running them over.

Officers responded to a bar in the 5700 block of Alameda for a fight early Saturday morning. When they arrived, they found a fight going on between multiple people.

According to police and bystanders, one of the men fled the fight by getting into his car and backing over four or five people as he left.

Police followed him to the other side of town, where he was eventually stopped inside a mall parking lot.

A DWI specialist determined that he was intoxicated. Police say 25-year-old Anthony Chavez was taken into custody

He was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Assault, one count of DWI, and one count of evading police officer using a vehicle.

Only one of the people he hit was taken to the hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

Chavez is behind bars over at the Nueces County Jail and his bond was set at $220,000.
