The man accused of hitting and killing a woman who was pushing her car off the road says he's innocent.
Dacota Deaver was arraigned Friday morning on charges of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
During his hearing, he pleaded not guilty to both charges.
According to court records, Deaver was using his phone last October when he hit the victim. Her car had broken down on FM 624 in front of Calallen High School. That woman, Cecilia Stanford, was the sister of Nueces County Clerk Kara Sands.
