The old Aviator Baseball Stadium in Robstown will be put to good use.
On Wednesday morning, the Nueces County Commissioners Court gave London I.S.D. and Agua Dulce I.S.D. baseball teams permission to rent the stadium for their home games this season.
The districts will pay $500 for daytime games and $750 to use the stadium in the evenings.
Aviator stadium, which is located next to the Outlets by Corpus Christi Bay, opened in May 2003. It served the Coastal Bend Aviators minor league baseball team before closing in 2005. In the meantime, Nueces County has rented the field to different athletic leagues.
Nueces County Commissioner Brent Chesney said, "If there is someone out there that has a playoff need or doesn't have a home field for their season, that's in the county or not even in the county, we would love to use this opportunity for you to do it. We don't make a lot of money on it but it's something that we can help the community and get some revenue in for the county."
