The Tuloso-Midway girls powerlifting team is looking to make a return trip to state this year. Six girls qualified last year but many more could make it this year.
The Cherokees are ranked in the top five in the state and have dominated several events already this year. Raeline Chavez has already turned in a 465 pound squat and that could be tough to beat at the regional meet in a couple of weeks.
Coach Michael Silvas says the program is really growing because last year just a handful of girls tried out for the team. This year, he has over 20.
