CORPUS CHRISTI -

A Corpus Christi man is facing serious charges after he allegedly kicked down a door and his ex-girlfriend.

The stabbing happened inside the victim's home in the 800 block of Egyptian Drive Saturday evening around 5:00 p.m.

Gena Pena, with the Corpus Christi Police Department, says John Cirlos, 34, went over to his ex-girlfriend's home, kicked down the back door, and stabbed her. Medics told police the victim had non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say Cirlos fled the scene and an arrest warrant was quickly issued.

Cirlos was found and arrested Sunday around 6:40 p.m. He is charged with burglary of a habitat with the intent to commit a felony and failing to identify himself to police.

He was taken to the Nueces County Jail and was issued a $75,000 band.
