Motorcyclist passes away after being hit by vehicle
Police said a motorcyclist was killed after being struck by another vehicle while attempting a turn.
CORPUS CHRISTI -
A motorcycle rider in Corpus Christi passed away Saturday night after an accident involving a driver who reportedly fled the scene.
Police responded to the intersection of Staples Street and Texan Trail on Saturday evening after reports that a motorcyclist had been struck by another vehicle.
On arrival, a 23-year-old male victim was found with serious injuries and taken to a local hospital. He was not wearing a helmet, according to police. Authorities said he passed away during treatment.
Corpus Christi Police Department had begun an investigation into the incident at time of writing. Officials said it appeared that the motorcyclist had failed to yield right-of-way when turning onto Staples Street before being struck by another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle reportedly fled the scene.
Investigators were searching for the driver involved in the incident Saturday night, adding that it did not appear they had been responsible for the accident since the motorcyclist had failed to yield right-of-way.
This is a developing story, we will provide further details as soon as we're able.
