ROCKPORT -

Victims of Hurricane Harvey in Rockport are getting a big hand with recovery efforts thanks to a group of businesses and charities.

Five months after Harvey tore through the city, Rockport, Texas is still working to restore normalcy to its community.

"If there's one thing that Rockport has a lot of, it's a great attitude on the part of the people," described Mayor Charles J. Wax.

Rockport became ground zero when Harvey's eye made landfall nearby, devastating the coastal community. Now, a partnership between Citgo and Habitat For Humanity's Fueling Good, Rebuilding Lives campaign is bringing almost two dozen homes to the area.

Among the recipients was resident Tina Solis, who's been living in Rockport for more than fifty years. The damage from Harvey, however, was too much for her to take care of alone. That's where Habitat for Humanity comes in.

"Oh, I'm blessed. I'm blessed for everything. And I just tell you that every day I pray for all of this," Solis said.

It was one of several stories with a silver lining that Governor Greg Abbott said was just the beginning. Abbott spoke to Rockport residents, saying, "You will see that the tidal wave you'll see coming forward is not the tidal wave of the floods that hit you a few months ago. It's going to be a tidal wave of support to make sure that you're going to have the resources to completely rebuild this entire region."
