A quiet night for some residents in North Texas was interrupted by a loud boom Friday evening.

Ennis police say the loud boom, which rattled homes and shook nerves, came from an asphalt plant.

Ennis Mayor Angeline Juenemann posted on her Facebook page that an asphalt rail container at the U.S. Polyco plant "blew its top causing the loud bloom."

The company, off I-45 in the 3100 block of South Kaufman Street, deals in asphalt, coatings and additives according to their website.

Police say no injuries were reported, nor were there any environmental issues.
