A hunter in Maryland is recovering after being knocked unconscious when a goose he shot fell from the sky.
According to Maryland Natural Resources Police, Robert Meilhammer, 51, was hunting waterfowl in a group near Easton, Maryland when the incident took place.
There, the hunters fired on a flock of Canada geese flying overhead. One goose fell around 90 feet to the ground, striking Meilhammer in the head.
Meilhammer fell unconscious and suffered head and facial injuries. He was reportedly able to answer some questions but was hazy on details when he regained consciousness.
Police and emergency responders determined that Meilhammer suffered a "severe" head injury and was rushed to a nearby airport before being flown to a shock trauma unit in Baltimore.
Authorities said he was in stable condition at time of writing.
