Area coaches react to UIL realignment

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Our class 5A schools have been divided up into two districts. Division I (big school) and Division II (small school) and it appears football coaches were happy with the latest UIL realignment. .

"You know it's always crazy because you never know what you are going to see when you get here," said King head coach Eddie Hesseltine. "You just have to have your bases covered and try to have your weeks and schedule already done. We already had it done so once we found out we were in a nine team district, we were fine. We had to call some guys and cancel some non district games and they were accepting and that's all you can do."

"The best thing is we don't have eleven teams," said Ray coach Craig Charlton. "but we do have nine and that is still a big district. The best thing about this is that we are not traveling so much and that's what it's all about, the kids the best thing."

"Our travel is not bad," said GP head coach Rick Rhoades "It's not like we are having to get on a bus and go three hours for a district ballgame. So we can live with that"

District 15-5A (Division I)

Carroll, Veterans Memorial, King, Ray, Miller, Moody, Flour Bluff, Victoria East, Victoria West

District 15-5A (Division II)
