School music programs in the area where Hurricane Harvey's eye made landfall are getting a major lift in their recovery efforts thanks to local music production companies.
Aransas County Independent School District was at ground zero when Harvey made landfall near Rockport and Fulton. The district closed all operations temporarily due to extensive damage to its campuses and among the victims of the storm was ACISD's music programs.
Now, a benefit concert hosted by two Corpus Christi based production companies aims to help those programs recover.
Family Tradition Productions and Metal Rocks CC Productions teamed up to host the concert. They'll also be selling a calendar and cd's to raise additional funding.
"It's a good idea for a community to stick together and to help each other out," explained Christy Rocks with Metal Rocks CC Productions. "Our focus is really to help give these kids a chance to learn music and to fall in love with what we love so much."
Five bands are set to perform at the concert, which will be held at Gators Sports Bar on Saturday night starting at 7:30 p.m.
