A former employee at a Diocese of Corpus Christi youth center has been arrested on sexual assault charges.

On January 11, Corpus Christi Police Department released a statement online stating that suspect Eulalio Martinez, 28, had been arrested on an outstanding warrant for one count of sexual assault.

Officials with CCPD said the charges involved the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl. Martinez was transported to the City Detention Center for processing and given a bond of $100,000.

Police added that their investigation was still ongoing and encouraged anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 361-886-2840.

On January 9, a press release from the Diocese of Corpus Christi noted that an employee identified as Eulalio Eito Martinez had been terminated from all parish positions following reports that he was involved in "inappropriate behavior with a youth." Martinez had worked at the West Side Helping Hand Youth Center as well as the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, the release said.

A representative with the Diocese of Corpus Christi confirmed that Martinez was arrested in connection with the incident.

The Diocese said it had notified local law enforcement regarding the suspect and was cooperating with their investigation.
