A Corpus Christi man was seriously injured after being ejected from his vehicle in an accident in Colorado, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
According to a press release, emergency officials responded to the accident on State Highway 350 just after 5 p.m. Tuesday near La Junta, Colorado.
Daniel Rangel, of Corpus Christi, was distracted while checking an incoming text message on his phone when his vehicle drove off the right side of the highway, according to the release.
Rangel tried to correct his path and ended up rolling his vehicle, according to the release. Rangel was ejected through the front windshield and sustained serious injuries.
Rangel was transported to the Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Colorado.
The investigation by The Colorado State Patrol and The Otero County Sheriff's Office revealed Rangel was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor.
