Apartment fire temporarily displaces several families

CORPUS CHRISTI -

A couple of families are being helped by the Red Cross after a fire breaks out inside a south-side apartment complex.

The fire broke out just before 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night in the 3900 block of Montego Drive near Weber and Holly Road.

According to firefighters, a fire broke out inside an apartment, where no one was inside, and filled up the complex with heavy smoke.

Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire.

Red Cross officials were contacted to help out the families living in the other apartment units because firefighters had to shut off electricity and other utilities to put the fire out.
