Cold weather may be to blame for the death of an elderly man this morning.
Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department were called to the intersection of Tancahua and Hancock just before 8 a.m. for reports of a man down in the area.
When officers arrived, they found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The man appeared to have fallen out of a wheelchair sometime overnight and could not get back up, officers said.
Officers said it appears as if the cold weather may have played a part in the death.
"Speaking with medics, it appears to be weather related due to the cold," Lt. Gabe Garcia with the Corpus Christi Police Department said.
The medical examiner has been called to determine an official cause of death. We will update this story as soon as more information is available.
