Sporting clays is the fastest growing clay target shooting sport in the USA. And you can find a course, right in Corpus Christi.
The Corpus Christi Rifle and Pistol Club knew that there was not a sporting club course anywhere south of Houston and San Antonio, and with it being a fast growing sport, they were eager to get something started.
CCPRC applied for a grant through the Texas Parks & Wildlife and were able to build a 45-acre course equipped with 16 stations, specifically for sporting clays. The grant comes from the taxes from gun owners that buy firearms and ammo, those taxes go into the Texas Parks and Wildlife departments.
This course opened on December 16, 2017 as the first sporting clays course in South Texas. Each station has two shooting targets that will shoot clays at different angles to simulate up-land birds, pheasants, and even rabbits.
It's the closest thing to actual field shooting of all shotgun sports.
CCPRC also has an entire range for gun owners to shoot all sorts of firearms. If you are a CCPRC member, the sporting clays course is only $35, if you are not a member it is $50.
