A Corpus Christi man has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, possession of child pornography and online solicitation of a minor after reportedly drugging and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old victim. Police believe the suspect may have other victims.
Corpus Christi Police Department reported that its Internet Crimes Against Children unit and Family Violence unit had investigated and then arrested Mathew Joseph Lucio on December 27. He was charged with possession/distribution of child pornography, online solicitation of a minor and aggravated sexual assault and jailed with a $500,000 bond.
An arrest affidavit obtained by KRIS 6 News detailed the incidents leading to Lucio's arrest.
Police reportedly became aware of a 30-year-old male communicating with a 15-year-old female through Facebook Messenger back in November, according to the affidavit. The male was reportedly trying to solicit her for sex.
Then, on December 22, officers made contact with the mother of a 12-year-old female who said she needed to report a case of sexual assault. The victim, who is not named here since she is a minor and reported victim of sexual assault, had reportedly told her mother that she met Mathew Lucio while he was going by the name "Kane Luciano."
Lucio had met the victim and a friend at a bus stop, later adding them on his Facebook account. He then began messaging both girls through Facebook Messenger, according to investigators. During one conversation, he had convinced the victim to let him pick her up from her home and take her to his residence in the 700 block of Meadowbrook Drive.
While still in Lucio's vehicle, the victim said she was shown images of Lucio having sex with young girls on a tablet device. This led investigators to conclude that there may be more victims of Lucio that have not come forward.
Inside the house, the victim was reportedly given pills and was told they were Xanax. She then fell asleep and woke up to find Lucio naked on top of her, later waking up the following morning to find herself completely naked with Lucio asleep next to her. She told her mother she had been sexually assaulted and that Lucio had even discussed it the following morning.
Investigators believe there is a possibility of other witnesses or victims of Lucio that have not yet come forward. They ask anyone with information to contact Senior Officer Alicia Escobar at 361-826-2996.
Lucio was booked in Nueces County Jail on December 27, on a combined bond of $500,000.
