Demolition of the Comanche Street Bridge, part of construction on the Harbor Bridge Project, will bring lane closures to the Crosstown Expressway beginning next week.
According to project contractors, main lanes of the Crosstown Expressway (State Highway 286) will be closed nightly between Laredo Street and Interstate 37 from Friday, January 5 to Monday, January 8.
The closures will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and are necessary to complete demolition of the current Comanche Street Bridge.
All work is weather permitting. Details of the closures are:
January 5: Northbound SH 286 will be closed to through traffic. Southbound SH 286 through traffic will be reduced to one lane.
January 6 to 7: Southbound SH 286 will be closed to through traffic. Northbound SH 286 through traffic will be reduced to one lane.
January 8: Northbound SH 286 will be closed to through traffic. Southbound SH 286 through traffic will be reduced to one lane.
Downtown access is still available using Agnes Street.
Drivers are advised to be aware of the lane closures, to consider using alternate routes to avoid delay, to follow all traffic control devices, and to slow down in the work zones.
