CORPUS CHRISTI - There was no pouting and no crying when Santa made his appearance in South Texas this weekend.
"That ride in was fantastic. It looked like a whole bunch of people down here and I said, 'We gotta go here,'" Santa Claus said.
Santa said he traded in his sleigh for a chopper this Christmas.
"The sleigh is over at the airport. It's getting worked on right now and the reindeer are eating over there," Santa Claus said.
But the change in transportation wasn't just for style.
Santa made a list, checked it twice, and hand delivered hundreds of toys to boys and girls all across the Coastal Bend.
Volunteers from several local organizations came together at Recio's Smokehouse where Santa made his big landing.
Zarron Gonzalez, an organizer, said volunteers have been collecting donations for months.
"We make sure every kid gets an actual present and a gift bag with the possibility of also taking come a bike as well," Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez said after a rough year for South Texans, he and Santa agreed that the Coastal Bend could use a little early Christmas cheer.
