Volunteers needed for Income Tax prep

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

The United Way of the Coastal Bend needs your help!

They are looking for those who are willing to be trained and then volunteer to help others complete their taxes for the 2018 season. It is all done through VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.

Volunteers will participate in six free training sessions, receiving in-depth training on the tax code from IRS certified trainers. Once the certification test is passed, those volunteers will then be ready to assist low-to-moderate income taxpayers, free of charge.

Last year in the Coastal Bend, the VITA program prepared returns for over 3,500 people, putting over $5 million in refunds back in our community.

Each of the free training classes must be attended, and will be held at the Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend Sunrise Mall Career Center (5858 S.P.I.D. #100) on January 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and January 13th from 9:00 AM to Noon.

Those who have questions should either call (361) 882-2529 or email Jamey.Byrne@uwcb.org before Noon on Wednesday, January 3rd.
