Volunteers 'Fill the Trunk' for elderly community

Posted: Updated:

Winter is certainly here in the Coastal Bend and the holiday season is underway, which has prompted some locals to take notice of a basic need sometimes overlooked: staying warm during the colder months.

Keeping people warm during the holiday season was precisely the goal of a campaign called "Fill The Trunk," hosted by Corpus Christi Subaru.

Organizers called on the community to fill up car trunks with blankets to be distributed to a group of folks that can often use a helping hand staying warm: the elderly. Donated blankets will be distributed to senior citizens in the community through our local Meals on Wheels program.

In addition to helping out their community, visitors to the event were paid a visit by Santa and walked away with some sweet treats. Every blanket donated was matched by Subaru.
