Early morning shooting leaves two hospitalized

Posted: Updated:

An early morning shooting at an apartment complex leaves two people hospitalized and police searching for a shooter.

It happened around 2:30 this morning when Corpus Christi Police were called to the Walnut Ridge Apartments for a reported shooting.

When they arrived, police saw a dark colored vehicle speed off, so they followed it.

Police pulled the SUV over on South Padre Island Drive near Weber and found two shooting victims inside.

Police alerted EMS and once paramedics arrived, they transported a 28-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man to an area hospital for treatment. Police say the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Police believe the driver of the SUV was only helping the victims get to the hospital and not suspected of being involved with the shooting.

Police are still investigating and searching for the shooter at this time.
