Concerned voters rally to call for Farenthold resignation

Posted: Updated:

Local political advocates and concerned citizens held a rally at Congressman Blake Farenthold's Corpus Christi office today to call for his resignation.

Participants were also there to present Farenthold with an $84,000 bill.

Earlier this week, in an exclusive interview with KRIS 6 News' Chief Investigative Reporter Rick Spruill, Farenthold said he would pay back taxpayer money that was used to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former staffer.

"We feel that this type of action and obviously reaction by Farenthold with the $84,000 in taxpayer money warrants his resignation," said Nick Gilby, president of the Coastal Bend Young Democrats.

In a statement, Farenthold said the people involved in today's protest don't have their facts straight, and that a congressional ethics investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing.
