Twin Peaks restaurant to provide free Christmas trees to military families

Posted: Updated:

The owners of Twin Peaks restaurants will be giving away Christmas trees to local military families on Thursday.

The Avalanche Food Group says they are looking to brighten the holidays for 100 Corpus Christi military families with a gift of a fresh-cut Christmas tree, complete with ornaments, lights, decorations and stand, at the Twin Peaks restaurant at 5425 South Padre Island Drive, on December 7 from 2 -3 p.m.

AFG is working with the Exceptional Family Member Program, a military program which provides information, referral, education, and assistance to special needs military families, to distribute tree vouchers for Thursday's giveaway to local service members and their families.

"My brothers and I are always creatively thinking of special ways to honor the men and women who sacrifice so much for our country," said Ricky Rosa, COO of Avalanche Food Group. "These military families are facing special challenges right now, and with what we've all gone through in Texas this year, we thought a live Christmas tree with all the trimmings would be a nice way brighten their holidays and thank them for their service to our country at Christmastime."

The Avalanche Food Group is also hosting tree giveaways for veterans and military families in Houston and Indianapolis this month.
