With the holiday season upon us, it is important to remember that people who have been affected by violent crime may not share some of the cheer others do. The season is often a difficult time for families who have lost friends or loved ones to violent crime over the years.
For two decades now, the Tree of Angels has offered these families a way to include and remember those who have been victims of violent crime.
The 20th Annual Tree of Angels is ready to be decorated with special ornaments to honor victims. The Coalition for Crime Victims' Rights invites family, friends and survivors to bring an angel or an ornament to hang on the special tree.
The event will take place today, Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the Nueces County Courthouse at 901 Leopard Street.
Those who want to attend are asked to gather in the first floor Central Jury Room.
