TxDOT to hold open house on SH 286 improvements

Posted: Updated:

The Texas Department of Public Safety is inviting the public to an open house to discuss a proposed project to improve SH 286 from Weber Road to south of FM 2444 in Nueces County.

The open house is scheduled for 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 7, and is intended to provide information and answer questions about the project.
TxDOT is proposing to convert just over three miles of SH 286 from a two-lane undivided highway to a four-lane divided rural highway, with a future option of becoming a six-lane highway if needed.

According to TxDot, the proposed project is needed to improve safety and mobility, to provide connectivity to other roadways in the region and to facilitate access to major evacuation routes.

The open house will be in Building 2 at the TxDOT Corpus Christi District headquarters, 1701 South Padre Island Drive.
