Local shelter prepares for cold front

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI - The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission is prepared to house more occupants due to the drop in temperatures this week.

The staff has added additional beds to make room for the influx of visitors. Spencer Lowe is the Chief Operating Officer at the mission, and says he expects anywhere from 20 to 50 new occupants overnight.

There will be fire pits placed in the courtyard as well to make visitors feel comfortable.

Wondering how you can help this time of year? Shelters are in desperate need of coats, gloves, socks, underwear, blankets, and over-the-counter cold and flu medications.

The Good Samaritan Rescue Mission is located at 210 S Alameda St. and anyone over the age of 18 is welcomed.
