A former Nueces County Clerk has decided to run for a chance at getting her job back.
Diana Barrera held the position of Nueces County Clerk for 33 years before being narrowly defeated in the general election by current Clerk, Kara Sands.
Now, Barrera made her formal announcement to run for the office again, adding that she intends to look first to staffing in the Clerk's Office if elected.
"Of the 26 employees that are there, 23 have already left in the short period of time that my opponent has been in office. It's huge turnover, and with that goes the experience that you have built," explained Barrera. "And that's frightening and alarming because the public deserves better. They deserve experienced personnel to serve them."
Barrera, a Democrat, will run against current clerk Kara Sands, a Republican.
