CORPUS CHRISTI -

If you're driving along SPID, you might notice a new mini-tower near La Palmera Mall.

That is actually a new tool run by the Corpus Christi Police Department to keep residents safe this holiday season.

The mini-tower is called a"Skywatch Tower, " and police say it gives officers a birds-eye-view to help look out for crimes in busy shopping areas.

CCPD Assistant Chief Mike Alanis tweeted out a picture of the new tower stating, "Our SkyWatch is operational. It is one of many of our resources being deployed for our Holiday Initiative."

But the Skywatch tower is not making La Palmera it's home, as police say it will be seen in places like La Palmera Mall, Moore Plaza, H-E-B on Saratoga, and several other locations in the city where there are many shoppers.
